BARRELHOUSE CHUCK
A musician who is loyal to his mentors and fans.
To his mentors because he keeps that down home blues sound alive and to his fans because there is always a how ya bin how you doing just like the gentlemen who where his mentors Sunnyland Slim Little Brother Montgomery Pinetop Perkins just to name a few.
In the sixty's when these Men where playing I can tell you no top notch blues band recorded without the heart of a piano in the band.Chuck is one of the last traditional players I know. Big HEARTED blues man he has helped on many benefits !!! Thanks for keeping my memory's and music alive MR GEORING, your friend Elmer Appleby
P.S. HAPPY BIRTHDAY 2010
REMEMBER WHEREVER YOU GO THERE YOU ARE !!!
Hi Chuck,
Just saw Cadillac Records and wanted to let you know that the music was certainly the best part of this movie. And your contributions were as always most excellent! Keep up the great work man!
best, MK
I love your newest website. I hope to catch of your shows soon somewhere. Regards from my wife, Donna and Ron "Sonny Boy" Samuels. Stuart Schuster, St. Augustine, Fla
Sir Chuck,
It was an unexpected pleasure to be in the crowd when you came onstage to jam with The Fab T-Birds at the Vernon Hills Summer Celebration last July. Too bad there were a few problems with the sound system. I’ve been a pianist for over forty years and am an ardent admirer of boogie woogie. I practice regularly and, although I am not a professional, I aspire to your level of musicianship. I own several of your CDs and they cycle regularly on my Bose Lifestyle. Unquestionably, you have a “left hand like God.” Do you have any plans to release an instructional video on boogie woogie? I know I would benefit greatly from learning from one of the true masters of the genre. In the interim, I’ll check your website for tour dates and catch you when you play locally.
Thank you for the wonderful music!
Best regards,
J.D. Gershbein
It is always an honor to present your fine music on my weekly blues radio show on WSND FM 88.9 Notre Dame/Indiana. You are soooooo heavy with your playing; I hear the lessons you learned well from the giants who tutored you come seething out of each note you play. You are a valued friend, a giant of blues piano, and a cherished performer. If I can do anything to further your career, please let me know. We are all blessed by your enormous talent and friendship. Take care, my friend!

Hi Chuck. My girl and I really enjoyed your show at Big Cities in Rockford, IL on 10/05/07!! The 8-Track kicks ass! Thankk you for the music and for keeping the Blues alive and well... Scott Juliano
Just sit'n around listening to the BLUES, with Barrel House...think'n about the old days....at Bob's place in Wisconsin. I found a fabulous place to continue the tradition, along side a beautiful lake...let me know at 262 880 2547 or dtmcbryde@yahoo.com..... Big Dan!!!!
Hey Chuck, When you coming back to Harry's Blues Bar? Saw you with Nick Moss and you smoked that keyboard! Love the cd's I got from you! Take care.
James
Chuck, the virtuoso of the boogie woogie blues piano, we are all looking forward to your CD release gig at The Midway Tavern in Mishawaka on 2/17/07 Saturday -- it will be another outstanding night of great music.
Albertina W. (www.themidwaytavern.com)
So we were at the Midway Tavern in South Bend IN., checking in before the
gig that night and it happened like it's happened so many times before and
since. In the back room there were several tables of folks and in the
corner was an old piano. Chuck walked over to the piano, played a few
notes, smiled, and launched into a blistering hot "Lonesome Child",
tearing the roof off the joint and leaving everyones jaw on the floor!
Chuck IS the Real Deal and he's carrying the torch passed on to him
personally by such legendary blues men as Sunnyland Slim and Little Brother
Montgomery, who both loved Chuck like he was their own son. I've played
with a few blues men in my career and I can say from experience that Chuck
is as deep as they come, just check out "Farewell To S. P. Leary". Nobody
writes em like that anymore...................except Chuck. Chuck, I owe so
much of these blues I play to you. Thanks again.
Your Friend Always, "Guitar" Greg Simmons
PS: Remember Little Joe 3/14/06
Hey Chuck,
I bet you thought you would never hear from me again. I just wanted you to know that I’ve bought a couple of your CD’s and I love listening to you.
You have done great! I still love blues and will always be thankful for the experience that you gave me. I knew you could make it!!

Hello there!
This Jeff Demand calling. What is up? How are things? I am writing you to try to encourage you to come to Prescott Arizona and play. I am now in radio and a CO-host of a morning talk show. I also am a news reporter on a CBS station here in Prescott. During our morning talk show, when we come back from the dreaded commercial, we use some of your music for bump music. I credit you as a friend and tell people who they are listening to. I don't know if you have ever been to Prescott, pronounced Press-kit. We have a famous street called Whisky Row. It is sort of like a small rush street. However, there are Bars that have been around since the days of cowboys and the history here is really cool. any way, I have become good friend with a few bar owners and one has a house here were you could stay while playing here, called the band house. I don't know if you are interested. I just thought I would pass this on.
Stay Cool J.D.

WOW! What can I say! I like it! You have got to be one of the BEST. I'm glad I read the article in Blues Wax E-Zine about you and bought the CD's. Definitely worth the money. I listen to them quite a lot. Hope you come to Florida some day.

I was walking behind your old house the other day where we used to jam on the pedal organ. We made some heluva recordings. That was around 1970. I knew you'd make it big because you had the big sound. One question: That barrelhouse woman, why she treat us so mean!

I've read your name on so many of my recordings while admiring your contributions. Sunnyland is among my most favoured of bluesmen and any tribute to him gets my attention. Hey, even my piano teacher (classical concert pianist) reckons he's great. I guess I just gotta have your disc for my show "Highway 49" - thanx

Chuck tore 'em up at the 14th Annual Elkhart Jazz Festival! I knew he would...with a killer band of Tom Moore (harp & vocal); David Moore (guitar); Jeff Kraft (guitar); and John Carpender (drums). Chuck always loves the crowd and they give it back ten-fold in their appreciation of his raucous talent and his honest way of educating about the real history of the blues.
Congrats to you, Chuck, for set after set of music that gives a girl Happy Feet. It was my pleasure to book you for the Festival and true joy to hear you play. I'll be dancin' around my living room to those songs for quite a while.
